Detailed set-up guide for parents (Apple iPhone users)

Follow these steps to get your family set up with Orbiri. It should take you no longer than 10 minutes.

Welcome to our Detailed Setup Guide! 🧑‍💻✨

To get Orbiri running smoothly for your family, you'll need two devices available:

  • Device 1 — Your (parent) phone

  • Device 2 — Your child's phone

ℹ️ Note:

You can run both Orbiri Parent and Orbiri Screen on a single device if you wish (e.g. if you are an adult user, or your child sometimes uses your parent device). In this case, follow all the steps on just your parent device.

🚨 IMPORTANT🚨Please complete these steps at home.

This prevents Apple’s “Stolen Device Protection” from requiring a 1-hour security delay before you can finish the setup.

Before following the instructions below, please make sure you have both phones in front of you and ready to go.

Device 1: Set up the Orbiri Parent app

Step 1.1 – Download the Orbiri Parent app

  • Download the Orbiri Parent app from Apple's App Store.

You can do this by searching for “Orbiri Parent” in your device’s App Store. Or just tap the "Orbiri Parent" icon below:

Step 1.2 – Launch the Orbiri Parent app and sign in

  • Sign in using your Apple or Google ID email address.
(Either option is fine on any device)

Step 1.3 – Read and approve our Terms of Service and Data Privacy Policy

  • Tap the "terms of service" and "data privacy" links to read the details.

  • Tap the "Accept terms and privacy policy" button.

Step 1.4 – Allow notifications

  • Tap the "Enable permissions" button.

  • Tap the "Allow" button.

Step 1.5 - Add your first child

  • Tap the "Add a child" button.

Step 1.6 – Add your child details

  • Enter your Child's first name and Child's last name.

  • Then, tap the "Connect to their community" button.

Step 1.7 – Connect your Child to their school community

  • Enter your child's invite code and tap the "Find community" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

The 6-digit invite code will be in the 'Welcome to Orbiri' email you received. Lost your code? Please contact us.

  • Tap the "Connect to community" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

Check that the community details are correct. If they are not, please contact us.

Step 1.8 – Prepare to link your parent device with the child device

  • Tap the "Link device" button.

Step 1.9 – Scan QR code to download the Orbiri Screen app

  • Scan the QR Code with your child's device. This will take you to the Orbiri Screen download page.

    ℹ️ Note:

If the QR code doesn't work, go to guide.orbiri.com/get on your child's device.

Device 2: Set up the Orbiri Screen app

ℹ️ Note:

You can run both Orbiri Parent and Orbiri Screen on a single device if you wish (e.g. if you are an adult user, or your child sometimes uses your parent device). In that case, follow all the steps on your parent device only.

🚨 IMPORTANT🚨Please complete these steps at home.

This prevents Apple’s “Stolen Device Protection” from requiring a 1-hour security delay before you can finish the setup.

Step 2.1 – Download Orbiri Screen and TestFlight

  • Tap the "TestFlight" button to install Apple TestFlight.

    ℹ️ Note:

If you can’t download TestFlight because of age restrictions, please contact us.

  • Tap the "Orbiri Screen" button to install the app.

Step 2.2 – Install management profile

  • Open Orbiri Screen.

  • Tap the "Begin setup" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

A QR code will display. Please ignore it, as it will just bring you to this same setup guide.

  • Tap the "Download profile" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

The management profile allows Orbiri to get a list of apps on the child device. This lets us organise apps into "Spaces" to safeguard access.

  • Tap the "Allow" button.

🛠️ Quick fix 🛠️ If you see a "security delay"

Click here for support on this issue.

If you have Stolen Device Protection enabled, Apple may require a 1-hour security delay before you can download Orbiri's management profile.

You'll need to:

  • Tap the "Start Security Delay" button.

  • Tap "Done”.

You can then either:

  1. Stay on the Orbiri Screen app and wait for the 1-hour delay to finish, or

  2. Leave Orbiri Screen and wait. You'll receive a notification in 1 hour saying "Security Delay Ended".

  • Once the security delay has ended, tap the "Continue" button.

  • Tap the green "Profile Downloaded" button.

  • Tap the "Allow" button.

  • Tap the "Close" button.

  • Tap the "Done" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

On iOS 26 and later, you'll see an "X" instead of "Done".

  • Tap the "Open Settings" button.

  • Tap the "Profile Downloaded" button.

🛠️ Quick fix 🛠️ If you don't see "Profile Downloaded" on your screen

You'll need to:

  • Ensure you are on the main Settings screen.

  • Tap the "General" button.

  • Scroll down to "VPN & Device Management".

  • Tap the downloaded "Enrollment Profile" from Orbiri Limited.

  • Tap the "Install" button.

  • Enter your device Passcode.

  • Tap "Next".

  • Tap the "Install" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

This warning is a standard Apple message explaining how companies could use Mobile Device Management (MDM).

We use MDM only to get a list of your child's apps on their device and to update website whitelisting.

🚨 IMPORTANT NOTE🚨 We do not use Mobile Device Management to access any content or usage data.

You can read our full data privacy policy here.

  • Tap the "Trust" button.

  • Tap the blue tick icon.

  • Wait for Apple’s App Management Change message.

    ℹ️ Note:

Apple usually sends this message within a few seconds, but at busy times, it may take up to two minutes.

  • Tap "Manage".

  • You’ll return to the Profile page in Settings.

🛠️ Quick-fix🛠️ Request to update to the latest app version?

An update to the latest version may be requested. This is unlikely, as you just downloaded the app; however, if an update request appears, cancel the message.

  • The "Install management profile" section should now be highlighted in green and marked as complete.

Step 2.3 – Approve Apple Screen Time

  • Tap the "Approve Screen Time" button.

  • Tap the "Continue" button.

  • Use Touch ID or Face ID to authenticate.

  • The "Approve Apple Screen Time" section should now be highlighted in green and marked as complete.

Step 2.4 – Install Orbiri Screen Shield

  • Tap the "Install Screen Shield" button.

🛠️ Quick-fix🛠️ Is the "Install Screen Shield" button grey?

Please wait while the web access filter is configured. If it takes more than 2 minutes, please contact us.

  • The "Install Orbiri Screen Shield" section should now be highlighted in green and marked as complete.

Step 2.5 – Allow notifications

  • Tap the "Enable permissions" button.

  • Tap the "Allow" button.

  • The "Allow notifications" section should now be highlighted in green and marked as complete.

Step 2.6 – Link to parent device

  • Tap the "Link device securely" button.

  • Enter your child's activation code.

    ℹ️ Note:

This is the "activation code" shown when you tapped "Link device" in the parent app. It is not the invitation code shared in the "Welcome to Orbiri" email.

  • Tap the "Link devices" button.

  • The "Link to parent account" section should now be highlighted in green and marked as complete.

    ℹ️ Note:

If you return to the Parent App on your parent device, you should also now see "✔️ Child activation confirmed". To go back to the main screen, tap the "Go to My Circle" button.

  • Tap the "Start using Orbiri" button on the Orbiri Screen (child) app.

  • Tap the "Next" button(s) on the onboarding guide(s) after reading the quick-intro text.

  • Tap the "Start using Orbiri" button.

    ℹ️ Note:

If your community has not yet gone live, you will see this countdown screen instead of the main spaces screen. This gives us time to ensure all apps are properly categorised.

At the displayed time, Orbiri will activate for you!

    ℹ️ Note:

It may take 10-30 seconds to load spaces for the first time. If the main screen doesn't appear within 1 minute, force-close the Orbiri Screen app (swipe it off the top of your screen) and reopen it. If you are still having trouble, please contact us.

Step 3: Lock "Screen Time" Settings

Lock the "Screen Time" settings on your child's device.

🚨 IMPORTANT NOTE🚨 This step must be completed by you (the parent) without your child watching or knowing the passcode.

Create a unique Screen Time passcode to lock the settings. This prevents your child from disabling Orbiri’s access to Screen Time, which is required to block apps.

The Screen Time passcode shouldn't match the passcode you use to unlock your device or your child's device.

For further instructions, please select the relevant option below:

Click here if you DO NOT USE Apple's "Family Sharing" and "Parental Controls" to manage your child's Apple Account

You can create a Screen Time passcode to ensure the settings you choose for your child's device remain in place. This means your child must enter the passcode before they can change any Screen Time settings.

You'll need to:

  • Go to your Child's Device.

  • Tap the "Settings" icon.

  • Scroll down to and tap the "Screen Time" button.

  • Tap the “Lock Screen Time Settings” text in blue.

  • Set a unique "Screen Time passcode"

    ℹ️ Note:

A Screen Time passcode is separate to the passcode you use to unlock your device or a child's device. It is just for Apple Screen Time.

  • Enter your "Apple Recovery Account" (use your parent Apple ID)

  • Test it by tapping the green toggle "Off" on the Orbiri Screen Time settings.

Click here if you ALREADY USE Apple Family to manage your child's screen time

If you use Apple Family to manage a child’s Apple Account, the Family Sharing organiser or a parent/guardian needs to set the child's Screen Time passcode from their own device, not the child's device.

You'll need to:

  • Go to the Parent device that manages Apple Family.

  • Tap the "Settings" icon.

  • Tap the "Family" button.

  • Tap your child's name.

  • Follow Apple's "Set Up Parental Controls" instructions.

  • Enter a four-digit passcode.

  • Re-enter your four-digit passcode.
